Compact Vacuum Arc Melting System (250A) with 7 Cavities - SP-MSM207

SP-MSM207 is a compact arc melting furnace, consisting of a water-cooled tungsten electrode, a water-cooled copper hearth, and a water-cooled stainless steel chamber. A wobble stick is included to flip metallic sample for re-melting. A vacuum casting fixture can be added as optional. It is an excellent tool for melting metals into alloys.

  • Output DC output duty cycle:
    • 60% @ 250A, 100% @ 200A 
  • Minimum DC current output: 10 A
  • Foot pedal control of the output current
Tungsten Electrode
  • 4 mm Dia. tungsten electrode with water cooling
  • Easy electrode tilting and height adjustment (30 mm max) for multiple-cavity melting
  • Capable of melting samples < 10 g refractory alloy in each cavity up to 3500 °C. 
Copper Crucible

  • Water-cooled copper hearth with 7 cavities of 25 mm Dia. × 8 mm depth (2 ml) (Fig. 1)
  • The customizable copper hearth is available upon request at extra cost (Pic 2 ).
  • A larger arc melter, MSM200 is also available for Fe < 300 g
  • A vacuum casting variation, MSM208 is also available (Fig. 4).

  • Water-cooled vacuum chamber with dimensions of Φ 182 mm × 225 mm H
  • A Φ120mm front door for easy sample loading and retrieving
  • A tinted observation window on the front for monitoring the melting process
  • A built-in wobble stick for sample flipping.
  • Pressure < 3 psig
Vacuum Pump (Optional)

  • The vacuum level is dependent on the vacuum pump used:
    • 10^-2 torr via a roughing pump. (Roughing Pumps) 
    • 10^-5 torr via a turbopump. 
         
Water Chiller & Gas (Optional)
   
  • Water cooling is required but not included. 
  • MTI recommend getting a KJ5000 recirculating water chiller.
