Roll-to-Roll Multi-Functional Coating Machine: Various Coating Heads - MSK-AFA-MC300

MSK-AFA-MC300 is a roll-to-roll, multi-functional coating system designed to support multiple coating head, including slot-die, reverse comma blade (transfer), micro-gravure, doctor blade, slot die + reverse comma blade, slot die + doctor blade, slot die + doctor blade + reverse comma blade. By installing different coating heads, the system offers both continuous and intermittent coating modes. The system accommodates substrates up to 300mm in width with an effective coating width range from 50mm to 260mm. It is compatible with various slurries and substrate materials. Numbers of convection heating oven can be customized upon request to meet specific drying and process requirements.

The micro-gravure coating head can be installed independently on the lower cabinent and operated with a different separator web path. Its independent mouting position ensures full compatibility with other coating heads. For combined configurations of the micro-gravure head with additional coating heads, please contact MTI for further information during purchase.

Slot Die Coating

  • Selectable coating modes: continuous or intermittent
  • Coating thickness is decided by slurry viscosity, feeding speed, and gap between slot die and substrate.
  • Continuous coating thickness: 30-150 µm (single-side)
  • Intermittent coating thickness: 30-100 µm (single-side)
  • One skim is included on standard package. The coating width can be realized by various shims and shim is customized.
  • Thickness control: coating gap regulated by servo motor with 1 µm resolution
  • Max. Coating width & length: 260mm x 5000mm (single side coating)
  • Precision: ≤ ± 2µm
  • Attention: The final coating thickness is dependent on a wide rage of parameters such as slurry viscosity, solid particle sizes, solid content, shim thickness, foil rolling speed and slurry feeding rate. Therefore, we are not able to guarantee that the 1-micron level film is achievable for all kinds of slurries. For further discussion, please let us know your slurry specs and coating thickness requirement. 

Reverse Comma Blade (Transforming) Coating

  • Continuous and intermittent mode are selectable from the touchscreen
  • Continuous coating thickness: 30 – 150 µm, ±3µm (single-side). Depends on different slurry viscosity.
  • Max. Coating Width & Length: 260mm x 5000mm, ±1mm (single-side)
  • Slurry Feeder Volume: 0.7L
  • Coating blade is adjusted by motor with resolution ± 1µm

Micro-Gravure Coating

  •  Continuous coating thickness: 1-10µm (dried film), accuracy: ≤ ±1µm (5-10 µm, dried film); < 1 µm (<5µm, dried film)
  • The coating thickness is dependent on the viscosity of slurries
  • Max. Coating Width: 280mm

Coating Speed

  • 0.1 – 2 m/min

Drying Oven

  • Heating method: Dual-direction convection hot air (Top + Bottom)

Compressed Air

  • 0.5 - 0.8 Mpa is required (Air compressor is not included, please click to order)
  • Attention: If a gas cylinder is used instead of an air compressor, a two-stage pressure regulator must be installed on the gas cylinder to limit the pressure within the required working range for safe operation.

Slurry Feeding Pump

  • Normally slurry viscoity for doctor blade, reverse comma blade, and slot die is suggested in the range of 2000 - 6000 cps. For micro-gravure coating, the slurry viscosity chould be 50 - 2000 cps.
