High Energy 3D Ball Mill with Optional Jars, (2 Yrs Warranty) - MSK-SFM-3

MSK-SFM-3 is a compact high-speed ball mill with a 3D movement for making a small amount of samples. It has higher impact energy created by rotation, vibration, and oscillation with frequencies up to 1200 rpm with a two-year warranty. The MSK-SFM-3 can be used either dry or wet to mill materials of solids, suspension liquids, and pastes. It is an ideal choice to make small quantity samples in materials research.

Choice of Milling Jars

  • 80 ml Stainless Steel Jar with a set of SS balls
  • 80 ml Nylon Jar with a set of Zirconia milling balls
  • High Throughput 4 Milling Cavities (9ml each) SS Jar 
  • Al2O3 Jar with SS Jacket (75 ml) - AJ-50
  • Tungsten carbide jar is available at extra cost
  • Attention: Don't use an SS jar with ceramic balls.

    Power Input

    • 208- 240VAC 50/60Hz, 300 W
    • A 750W transformer can be used for 110V.
    • The transformer is not included, please order at extra cost.
    Oscillation Frequency
    • <1,200 RPM, fixed
    Timing Range
    • 0 to 30 minutes for built-in mechanical timer
    • Warning: running time for the mill should be less than 30 minutes, otherwise, the mill may overheat.
    Feeding 
    • Feeding Granularity: <1mm 

    Discharging Granularity

    D50 0.1 micron minimum for oxide ceramic materials ( see pic. left )
    Note: To achieve finer or desired particles via ball mill is a research project, which is dependent on the material to be milled, grinding time and speed, combination of grinding jar and milling ball, etc. It is the user's responsibility to find the best milling procedure based on the material. Buyers are welcome to the MTI laboratory in California to test before purchase.

    • If the user needs to force conditional air cooling for some ductile materials, please click to order a Portable Spot Air Cooling Conditioner, which will keep the milling jar temperature low. ( click picture left ). It is a cost-effective way to achieve the required particle sizes and production rates for heat-sensitive or tough-to-mill materials.

    Application Notes
    • Attention: To achieve the best grinding effects, it is suggested to use milling balls with a diameter of less than 10mm for a 50ml alumina jar
    • Tips for choosing proper jars and milling media for milling and grinding application:
      • SS mixing jar is suitable for grinding various metal materials
      • For milling the oxide material, please choose Nylon or alumina/zirconia jar and media
    • Please consider our SYU-3 Ultrasonic Filtration System for filtering the product.
    • DO NOT USE stainless steel balls in Alumina jars or vice versa to avoid contamination. 
    • Please use N2 gas if it operates inside of the glove-box, do not use Ar gas 
    • Bulk samples must be crushed before grinding. Please consider MTI Jaw crusher ( click pic below right )
